Let’s kick off the new year with a killer night of music at The Princeton Pub: Lone Bear w/ Jimmy Baldwin Band and Shiloh Lindsey!!
For the very first time, Lone Bear, Vancouver’s most playfully mauling instrumental trio, unleashes its love of heavy grooves, pretty songs and no-rules improvisation on The Princeton stage. Featuring some of Vancity’s heaviest hitters (guitarist Jeff Younger, bassist Johnny Wah and drummer Kenton Loewen,) the band mashes classic hits from Black Sabbath, Neil Young, The Beatles and The Temptations through a free jazz improv blender – always beastly, always fun, and always an unpredictable musical adventure.
Whether solo or as leader of his own Jimmy Baldwin Band; co-founding member of 10-piece Afro-beat funk juggernaut Camaro 67 or electric bebop group the Underdogs; performer with top-tier event bands like Ten Souljers and Supersonic Hearts; or hired gun for various solo artists and one-off appearances, Jimmy is always playing. Following the release of his debut album “Changing Time” in 2013 he’s been focused on the above mentioned projects and looks forward to releasing new solo recordings in the coming year. An accomplished music educator, Jimmy currently teaches at Place des Arts and from his home in East Van.
Seasoned songwriter and storyteller Shiloh Lindsey is a most unique character in Canadian music. Hard-raised on a ranch in south central Alberta, based for many years out of Vancouver, with a 3 year stay in the Maritimes, she pairs open country authenticity with big city sensibilities, for a complex blend of prairie, mountain and coastal textures. Painstakingly documenting the triumphs and failures of life and love, her honest words and spine-tingling melodies pull the listener in close to rest their ears against the comforting heartbeat of each song she sings.
